2014 Half Ton Classics Cup

A couple of weeks ago Versatile Marine’s Chris White took part in the 2014 half ton classics cup on board Scorpion in St Quay Portrieux, France.

With 22 boats entered from modern race bred yachts to classic, untouched half tonners the week had good breeze and good racing.

3 Falmouth based yachts took part. Scorpion, helmed and owned by Geoff Davis was joined by Miss Whiplash in the channel crossing, whilst Per Elisa and her crew decided to jump on the ferry.

Over the week of racing all the crews contended with heavy conditions on the water, and some pretty heavy evenings on shore.

With Chris working the fore-deck the team managed a very respectable 14th place, and pulled a 3rd place finish in the unmodified group.

Talking to skipper Geoff Davis after the event the whole crew had a fantastic time and all the hard work over the start of the season was worth it, but 1 half ton cup in the boats life is enough.
